Midsummer update

I know I rarely update anymore. It's just that sometimes I lose interest in keeping a blog, LJ or whatever. I find the inspiration to start doing it from time to time though. I have commited myself into accumulating all the JE PVs I have in one post and I plan to do it nonetheless. Also about uploading the albums and the singles... I plan on continuing it when I have the time.

Also:
It's still too early to be saying this but: I'm planning on applying for a scholarship to do post-graduate studies in Japan next year. If I get it, I'll be moving to Japan for at least 2-3 years. This is a dream I'll chase and won't let go. Up until now, whatever I put my heart into I achieve.
But first I need to graduate. So in August I'll be studying my butt off to finish by next year! Wish me luck!

Our Universities are battlefields!

I don't usually update here and I don't usually write about that stuff but yesterday's events propelled me to do so. For those of you who do not live in Greece I have to explain though.
Yesterday, there were Dean elections at the Universities. Some students belonging to the left parties and the students who belonged to the ruling party started fighting. However, at our University (in Pireus) things got out of control. The ruling party had some henchmen with wooden planks and the leftists were fighting with molottov bombs. As a result everything inside the University was trashed and some cars burned down and people were rushed to the hospital! I was lucky enough not to go there yesterday (thank God for my japanese classes). Even the Uni's site was hacked and doesn't work right now!
Today, there are probably no classes. How can the professors teach in a thrashed class? Tomorrow I have to present a project but I wonder if the Uni is going to open? They destroyed it! I'm also worried about the exams that start next week. They may be pushed back...
I swear that the situation at the Greek universities couldn't get worse! Since the government is pushing that law about the private Universities, we have been in a state of chaos. I envy the foreign Universities that don't allow political parties to run them. I hate politics! Politics in Greece at least!

Winter 2008 Drama Top 5

The 2008 Winter Drama Season drew to an end. Let's see... It had good dramas ne? My Top 5 for this season was...

Top 5
1. 1 Pound no Fukuin - Wow! This one was way better than I expected! Kame managed to pull out the most adorable lead character in a drama (strictly my opinion though). I just couldn't get enough of it! And Meisa was so beautiful and acted so naive, I loved her! Pity it was only 9 episodes long...
2. Mirai Koshi Meguru - Of course I would never ever miss to put a Kankuro Kudo drama on my list. It was crazy, it was original, it was extra cute (the Kyoko Fukada factor). Loved it!
3.Koshonin - It was probably the best police j-drama I've seen. Yonekura Ryoko kicked ass as Usagi. And Shirota Yu could very well be Hannibal Lecter's illegitimate son... What's with the 8 episode's length though???
4.Edison no Haha - It was way way better than I expected. Hell I almost cried at each episode's sweetness. Kids can really steal a show. I want one like Kento too! Cute cute cute!!!
5.Sasaki Fusai no Jinginaki tatakai - Extreme comedy with a lot of visual effects. And Koyuki with SMAP's Goro bickering at each episode like crazy! Did I mention there was a narrator too? Yeah, it was really really good...

Unexpectedly only 2 of the dramas I was anticipating made it to the list. Honey & Clover was kinda disappointing and Binbou Danshi wasn't as good as I expected it to be. It was fun though and Miura Haruma was adorable.
So let's see... For the next season the five dramas I'm anticipating are:

CHANGE - KimuTaku drama finally! Also there's Eri Fukatsu and Hiroshi Abe! With the scriptwriter from Hero, nothing can go wrong! Plus I love political dramas cause they have a lot of twists. This one is no1 on my to-watch list.
Zettai Kareshi - Yuu Watase manga turned drama! With Moko as the robot! And Mizushima Hiro is <3<3<3 Also the cm looked hella good!
Last Friends - With its cast and plot it has to turn out great. Can't wait to see Ueno Juri and Eita acting together again. I couldn't care less about Ryo but it's good that he gets to play an abusive character (yeah, I don't really like him, so I can probably hate him as much as I want here...)
Gokusen 3 - Another Gokusen. Probably with the same plot... But getting to see Yankumi again is worth it! I missed her!
Osen - Aoi Yuu drama! A food comedy... And yes! ?Uchi is back (I like him. And missed him. He had been away for too long...)

As KinKi Kids would say... It's snowing! Ever since Saturday evening! And since Sunday noon it started falling harder! Now everything outside is white!!! Pardon my excitement but I live in the Athenian western suburbs and here it rarely snows. Last snowfall was 2 or 3 years ago! This year's is the strongest one so far... Ah! How I wish my dad was around to see it! He loved snow so much!
It's 1am right now and I went outside for a while. Everuthing was silent! I never understood this sound of silence thing but I think I experienced it for the first time today. No sounds from cars or tvs or the wind. Nothing. Just silence... It's scary and exciting at the same time!

Happy new year everyone! Best wishes for this year to be a good one! For me, 2007 ended in tragedy but I'm picking up the pieces slowly (I still cry at night before I go to sleep cause dad's face pops up in my mind...). I'll be fine!

So let's see the plan for 2008 (for my Internet life):
- I'll continue with the uploads. More Jpop PV's coming your way! I'll try to upload at least 6 per day...
- Start fansubbing. I'm planning on entering a jdrama fansub group as the translator. And maybe do a solo translating project for older dramas and specials. I have set my eyes on doing the whole 2007 Spring special of Yonimo Kimyona Monogatari (the one with Sho) cause I really liked that.
- Maybe... just maybe... finally get an LJ paid account and make my journal more decent! Hahaha!
- Buy yet more stuff from the net. I wanna get some mangas too.
- Start playing WoW. It is my favorite MMORPG and dad's last gift to us. He didn't manage to give it to us personally. I'll put the account to good use!
- Continue dad's legacy in Lineage 2. He was his clan's representative and his spirit lives on through his favorite character: AndroklisGR. But how the hell I am going to adapt to a lvl 55 character when I'm a noob I still don't know! :P

Seeing the post below I can't believe the irony of it... I wrote: 'If something worse happens I'll update the post". Well, it happened. That same night... You probably won't believe what I'm saying but... but... my father died... It's no joke. It was sudden. He was so healthy a few hours before! But he fainted after he drove me to the subway. When we took hm to te hospital, he gave in... In less than 30 minutes. He was such an innocent man... a child at heart. I wanted to say so many things but words won't come out. I'm finally free to speak about this. My father left me so many things, so many memories. The last memento I got of him is a cd from his friends at his Lineage II clan. He was singing "Born to be Wild", just 2 nights before his death. He sounds like a rock star! I'm so proud of him. I'll carry him inside me forever... At least he died happy. And not once he believed that he was gonna die. He left with no regrets. Rest in Peace Daddy! I love you! And I'm moving on. For me, mom and sis... I'll be strong! I promise you!

Hahaha! I cant' believe my (un)luck today! It's probably not my day.
Aside from being late for work here are some things that happened to me today so far. ?I'll update this post if something more happens to me by the time I go to sleep.

1. Got stuck it the elevator. Alone.
Yep. The place I work in on the 6th floor of the hospital. Today I though that I was lucky that there was an elevator right in front of me. And empty as well. But I was wrong. When I reached the 6th floor I couldn't open the door! The elevator wouldn't move either! I was stuck. Thank God I didn't panic! I pressed the emergency button but noone came. Eventually the elevator fixed itself and I was able to get out. Hahaha!

2.Lost my huge post on my greek blog
For some reason when I posted it , it didn't come out so I had to do it all over again.

3.Pressure
I'm getting pressed to finish a powerpoint presentation. So I need to go! Stress is killing me!

Autumn 2007 Drama Top5

I figured I'll do this every season. Now that the autumn season in J-dramas is almost over I'll list the 5 dramas I enjoyed the most and the reasons this happened.

Top 5 (Autumn 2007)

1. Iryu 2 - Up until a few days ago this was no 2. But I became extremely addicted after episodes 4 & 5. It's the best drama this season. It's even better than the first season! I never thought I would enjoy surgeries so much! And the actors are also shining through. No kidding people! Watch this!
2. Galileo - It's the powerful comeback of Masaharu Fukuyama in acting. Need I say more? This was my no1 until Iryu usurped the spot. Fuji's Monday 21:00 slot had suffered a lot these past years and this drama brought the ratings back up. If you love mysteries you'll like this. And you'll be amazed at the names that guest star in each episode.
3. Utahime - Very underestimated drama. The ratings are low cause supposedly people can't understand the dialect the actors speak. But getting past this we have a beautiful love story set in the 50's (amazing era imo) complete with Nagase Tomoya's acting talents. Top quality if you ask me!
4. Mop Girl - Never expected it to be this good! Kitagawa Keiko's first lead role is a big success. Although the summary may trick you, this drama is extremely funny. Momoko is so goofy (but doesn't beat Kanzaki Nao in stupidity) and we also have Sho (Tanihara Sousuke as a helpless playboy) who helps her without knowing why. Together they make a very fun conbination!
5. Yukan Club - Don't get me wrong. I like it. If I didn't this wouldn't be no 5. But I had higher expectations... Jin needs a lot of improvement in his acting. But the others do a decent job (Junno and Minami being the best). Needless to say this drama is absurd! And that's what makes it so much fun! It's great to watch this as a pastime and laugh at how ridiculous the plot is!

That's the report for this season. The dramas I'm mostly anticipting next season are:
Honey and Clover (I LOVED the anime and the movie and OMG Hiroki Narimiya is Morita!)
1 Pound no Fukuin ( Kame's comeback! And it's a love comedy! With Kuroki Meisa!)
Binbou Danshi (First Shun Oguri lead role! It's a comedy too!)
Shikaotoko to Aoniyoshi ( Ayase Haruka and Tamaki Hiroshi! With a ridiculous plot to boot!)
Mirai Koshi Meguru (Kankuro Kudo drama! Kankuro Kudo drarma! Kankuro Kudo dramaaaaa! With Kyoko Fukada as the lead)

Party Report

I'm at work right now and I'm extremely bored. So I thought, what the hell, I'll update!
This Saturday was my sister's birthday and we threw a party at our house. Our parents are way for over a week now so it was something we did on our own. This is what happened...

The party started around 9 am. Our DJ, a friend of Tasoula, had arrived earlier to set up his hard disk on my dad's pc. My uni friends came earlier as well to prepare cause they were going to sleep over. R n' B was up first but wtf Giannis (the DJ) put it so early that nobody (but me) danced. I love dancing to r n' b so I didn't care if nobody else was dancing. But some of the girls actually got up to dance when we put Big Bang and other Korean R n' B! They liked it and actually said they couldn't tell it apart from the american stuff. That shows how good Koreans are in R n' B.
The Dj moved on to put techno and house but nobody danced. More people showed up by 10. among them was a guy from Crete and he's like soooo classic Cretan! (meaning: Loud and has a few screws loose.) He was drinking like crazy! Around that time the Dj put on Greek songs. The kind I hate. I have divorced from Greek music for life. All the songs are the same and the lyrics suck big time (ex: Bring me two grenades, to blow up the place). Most of the songs are copies of arabic or turkish songs. There is no originality whatsoever. That's when everybody dances though...
At 11 am everybody was starving. But my sister, after previous party experiences, hadn't prepared much food. Usually people don't eat much at parties. But, according to Murphy, whatever there is to go wrong will go wrong. So our party was the only time when everyone was starving. And when I say starving I mean A LOT! I had to order souvlaki by phone. 5 mins later a guy from the restaurant came to confirm that we ordered! It's unbelievable but they had fallen prey to prank calls 5 times that day! All fake orders! I opened the door to let them confirm the party and the starving! They brought the souvlaki eventually and it was gone in a flash!
Surprisingly there was a lot of energy until 3 pm! During that time I managed to bait a girl into Arashi! she loved the music and the lyrics and asked for a cd and the translations. Good going! I'm doing my work as Arashi's apostle! Harharhar!
Then, after 3, the Cretan guy (avoinding names) felt bad and rushed to one of the bathrooms (the small one). There he vomited all over! The carpet, the sink, the walls, the toilet! Wtf had he drunk??? Noone could go near the bathroom. Some of the boys, including my sister's boyfriend who had broken his leg and was still recuperating, were trying to beat him to his senses cause he was almost asleep! Can you believe it! That's how the party died down eventually. But most of the guys were there until 5-6 pm. Me and my friend had already gone to sleep though so we didn't notice them leave.
Up to now the bathroom is still in a state of mess and vomit. Wonder if we'll be able to clean it off? It was the first time somebody throws up at our party! We're generally very clean and don't drink much. A friend of mine said that she had a lot of similar experiences before.
Well, now the only think that's in my mind is the present to my sister: The letter I wrote to Aiba. If he reads it I'll have given her the best present ever and I'll be on cloud 9 for a long time!

I seem to have disappeared from the face of the Earth... well, the Internet... 2 reasons for that:

1. It's been a week since my connection has died. The reason: The Internet provider is experiencing some problems with our area so until the end of the year I'm not going to have any access to the Internet from my computer. For the time being I'm borrowing my dad's PC to post.

2. I'm sick. Really sick. With fever, a running nose and a terrible cough that is remindant of an old man. It's been 2 days now... I'm not sleeping cause of this and I feel very tired. When you're sick you appreciate health even more. So my advice to all of you: Stay healthy! Don't allow yourselves to experience what I'm experiencing right now. Sure I got sick before. Last winter I had a fever that wouldn't go down for 2 weeks. But when you're healthy you seem to forget it. Ain't that right?

Ooh! My head hurts! Gotta go and lay down at my bed. Bye!

A dream with KAT-TUN Part 2

OK! Here is the 2nd part! (oh and btw Ueda was not in this dream as you may have noticed! I don't know why! And I did not ask the guys about it! Maybe he had other bussiness)

We left off to where I heard the noise behind me. I turned around, ready to scream but instead I froze cause... Junno was standing there looking at me! "G...ghost!" I whispered faintly and I was ready to pass out. But Junno started laughing."No I'm pretty much alive!" he said.
"But he killed you! He took your head!"
"No he didn't! Me and the boys used a little trick to make it look like he killed me!"
"what?"

At that point he explained the trick but I did not understand much. It was far too complicated. I was so happy he didn't die that I hugged him without thinking.
"i'm so glad you're ok! I would never have gotten over it!"
"We are not dying that easily! Relax!"
"Still! You have no idea what the killer is capable of!"
"He has a bunch of weapons... and knows how to use them... so what? We decided to help you and that's that!"
:Wow! But I'm still scared!"
"Don't be!"
And then... he kissed me! (It's weird cause I never paid too much attention to Junno! I like Kame and Koki the most!)
I don't know for how long we kissed but I had to shove him away when I saw movement near some bushes across the clinic. It was the killer! And he seemed to have a gun!

"Damn!" Junno shouted and we ran inside. We hid in the medicine storage and Jin devised a plan. We had to steal the killer's boat and trap him on the island! But we had to use baits!
"You and Junno will be the baits!" Jin said. "Besides he is after you two personally!"
"Way to go!" I said ironically. "do you have any idea how scared I am???"
"Don't worry I'll protect you!" Junno said.
"What? Will you make him think you are a ghost?" Koki joked.
No one laughed.

So basically the plan was: Me and Junno the baits (always the hard job!)
Kame and Jin fetch our boat and meet us at the dock near the clinic
Yuichi and Koki steal the killer's boat and signal the others about the success of the theft

We split up and started acting according to plan. I really did not do much but scream like crazy while Junno was using his acrobatic tricks to avoid the killer's gun. When he ran out of bullets he started chasing us. We ran to the direction of the rendz-vous; the dock. Kame and Jin were there with the boat and its engine on. We got on and speeded away. Just then we saw the signal.
"Koki and Yuichi did good!" said Kame relieved.
"Now we're outta here!" I shouted happily.

But then... some heavy steps disturbed us... We turned around and... the killer was standing there at the moonlight, on our boat holding an axe.!Last thing I did was scream with all my might!
And then I woke up... I always wake up before my death so it's logical it happened like this. But I'll never know the outcome. It really ended like a scary movie!

So there you have it! Actually I hadn't seen any JE related dreams for almost a year! But 3 days ago I dreamt of KAT-TUN doing a spaceship skit on TV. And it inspired me to write a fiction about it! So maybe I will!

A dream with KAT-TUN Part 1

Around last year I saw a dream with KAT-TUN. It was a scary dream and it was quite big and I wrote it down so that I wouldn't forget it! Brace yourselves guys! This is BIG!

It was night and the weather was bad. I was at a seaside town and I was running away from a mysterious guy. But he was faster. I screamed for help but noone came. He caught up with me and I saw his face. He was scary, bald and had bad teeth! He tried to rape me! When I thought I was a goner the KAT-TUN boys showed up! Jin hit him and I was able to free myself! Kame and Junno helped me up and we started to run like crazy! But he was still after us with a sword in his hand! It was so dark we could not tell where he was! I fell behind the guys and heard him coming! The Junno went out to protect me and I heard a slashing noise! Koki and Yuichi went to help and managed to throw him back but ,to my horror, they brought back Junno's body... headless. With big difficulty we reached the docks and jumped on a boat. Jin knew how to drive it and fortunately we escaped!

To where though? The clouds cleared and through the moonlight we could see an island in close proximity! Jin turned the boat to its direction. I knew about this place. It was the Haunted Island Leisure Land! A theme park that was meant to be big but never actually opened. It was an abandoned place. Just then my eyes fell on Junno's headless body and I started crying realizing that I was responsible for that. Kame tried to console me and Koki and Yuichi tried to make me laugh but I became worse.

When we were close to the island we realised that we were being followed by the killer! His boat was still far away but he knew where we were. Jin said that there sould be a clinic somewhere on the other side of the island and we decided to take shelter there. We docked at the main dock and disembarked. Jin with Koki carried Junno's body and Kame was up front. I was with Yuichi behind. We passed a big sign that wrote "Welcome to your worst nightmares!" Somehow that was so right! It started raining. Some lights on the path we took were oddly light up! And the decoration came right out of a scary movie! I was scared shitless and cried silently. The guys were scared as well but managed to look calm. And then it hapenned! The speakers around the park turned on and a creepy voice started narrating a scary story! The mechanical zombies and ghosts turned on and and made noises!

''Someone is trying to scare us!" said Kame. And whoever it was he succeeded! With faster pace we managed to find the clinic after 5 minutes (I Think). It never opened so we could find a clean bed easily. Junno's body was placed on it and the boys sat around him. I couldn't bear to look so I went outside. The rain had calmed so I didn;t get very wet. I blamed myself for everything and wondered how these guys showed up. I kept thinking about poor Junno and how I should have been in his place. Then I heard someone behind me! (end part1)

Turkish Star Wars

Just cause I'm in the mood... Yesterday night we stumbled across this video with my friend Fay, and we almost died from extreme laughter. It's a Turkish version of Star Wars! No kidding! The shot this around the same time Star Wars came out and they even stole some scenes from the original movies! The result is hilarious! Turkish kung-fu and a Darth Vader that looks like the sultan! It's so bad it's actually good! And I thought Bollywood was funny! 70's cult Turkish movies are as well (and maybe funnier).

Today I finally went to have my hair cut! After a long time with long, straight hair I have a new hairdo! And it suits me!

This is me a few weeks earlier, with Maira, at her party which we held at my house. Notice the tiaras?

As you can see, my hair is long and straight; nothing special really.

And this is the me today!

It's short at the front and also from behind on the outside but from the inside side it's long. Asymmetrical! I really like it. Gives me a young adult feeling. I was getting tired of my long hair. They were heavy and difficult to comb!

Me without my glasses. I want to take that surgery to correct my eyesight. Since I'm 21 already I can do it without fear.
Truth be told, I can see a lot of things without my glasses but still I'm not able to see well or read signs from a certain distance! :P

And a close up with me holding the camera and fixing my hair! ^_^

This has nothing to do with the whole hair matter but look how at how the mirror in my sister's room reflect the flash from the camera! It's like I'm shooting a star from my hands! Hee hee!

I knew I had to make this post someday but I kept forgetting it until I came across the last photo... Anyway, you guys will be surprised at how many Greek random elements can be found in J-dramas. Especially dramas that star guys from JE! I have watched over 100 dramas and heres some of the things I found extremely funny when watching mostly cause they are Greek!

Let's start with an old drama: Long Vacation
A 1996 Summer drama that starred Kimura Takuya and Yamaguchi Tomoko
The drama is a classic, everyone who says that he/she is a jdrama fan should have watched it already. Anyways, the heroes used to hang out in a club, where the heroine's brother (played by Takenouchi Yutaka) worked. That club's name was:...

Club Θέατρον! (Theatron) It's the greek name for theater. As you can see it's written in Greek! At some point the protagonist says: 'At that club with the greek letters outside'. Lol! Of course! He can't read Greek now can he? I wanna go to that club if it's not already torn down! The building looks old...

The picture speaks for itself. For those who can't read katakana it says souvlaki (suburaki)! Our Greek specialty! With pork gyros! Lol! Notice the Greek flag on the sign? And Sho trying to hide? I guess this is the closest these guys will come to Greece! :( I wonder if Nino likes souvlaki! But God! It's so expensive in Japan! 500 yen (approx 3 Euros) ? In Greece you can get it with 1,50 Euros! I guess it's a delicacy there! Sushi is hella expensive here too!

A 2007 spring drama: Tokkyu Tanaka 3go
Starring Tanaka Koki (<3) and Kuriyama Chiaki
Our hero loves to wear jerseys from European teams. He once wore a Barcelona and an Ajax jersey. Two widely know teams. In the end of episode 4 however and at the start of episode 5 he wore this:

Roflmao! lol! lol! lol! AEK Athens! Lmao! Lol! I fell from my chair when I saw it! And kept laughing the whole time he wore it and couldn't focus at the story! Jeez! This is hilarious! AEK Athens? Was the team known in Japan? Where the hell did he find that jersey? Muwahahaha! My dad is an AEK fan! And my grandma too! And now Koki probably as well! ^^

A 2006 Special: Jitensha Shonenki
Starring Yasuda Shota and Maruyama Ryuhei (from Kanjani8)
Ok so our heroes love bicycles and on one of their excursions they meet an old man who owns a canteen and says he travelled across Europe on his bicycle! He even made some friends and they talk on Msn! These friends are:

Greek islanders! Rofl! (I won't resize the picture cause it's already bad quality!) The guys on the left are Cretan! I guess the picture was taken at a traditional dance festival or something cause Greeks don't tend to wander around wearing traditional clothing like the Japanese! lol! Notice the names on the msn chat widow? Kallas and Pita! Lmao! Extrememly ridiculous! But maybe that's what comes to the minds of the Japanese when they hear Greece! The English conversation is T_T. "How is bicycle?" Dear! Greeks learn English from kindergarten! Unless the Greek guy's name is Mitsaras and he lives in Ano Kolopeteinitsa, where surprisingly they have Internet! Opa!

A 2003 Winter drama: Good Luck!
Starring Kimura Takuya and Shibasaki Kou
It's a drama about a co-pilot and his relationship with his co-workers etc. It's a nice drama but what mad it nicer is something I noticed on the 2nd episode! Our hero wandered around his house in informal clothing. His blouse had some yellow letters that reminded me of something! I though "No way it can be that! Absolutely no way!" But then it came: a close-up! I died! IT WAS WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS! The great KimuTaku wore a blouse that wrote:

MALAKA!!!!!! In greek lettering!!! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! *dies* Ok for an explanation to those who are not Greek. 'Malaka' is the most common and lowly curse word in Greek vocabulary. It's so widely used it came to mean 'buddy' (kinda like how black people call each other nigga) but it actually means masturbator. Boys mostly use it and their conversations are like this:
- Hi, malaka!
- Whoa! Malaka! Long time no see!
- How is your family malaka?
- Good! Malaka! And yours?
(Ugh! That's why I hate Greek boys nowadays! So lowly and ugly vocabulary! They even use it in front of girls)
BUT getting past that the fact that KimuTaku wears a blouse like this is purely amusing! Did the people who picked this out for him know it's meaning? If they did they are really cool!

Lol! I love J-dramas! There are other dramas and movies too (all starring Johnny's) that have Greek references : namely Stand Up!!, Boku Dake no Madonna and Fantastipo. But I won't elaborate on that now. I wish I can find more references in the future!

Well, it's an update! How come you'll ask! Well, I became really busy lately and I am to become more busy soon cause I have a job! It's full time for 2 months and it's practical exersice. I'll be working at the Informatics department of a big, private hospital. Kinda like the ones you see in Jdramas. It's gonna be tough but I'll try not to fall behind on my fandoms. Jdramas, jpop and such... Oh! Yeah! Me and my friends are starting a greek blog soon! It's gonna be crazy with lots of stuff from movies to sports commenting. I'll be in charge of Asian pop culture and I'll try to make it widely know to Greeks who still think that Japan produces only anime! Hehe!
Oh and let me ask a question. Would you like me to upload JE mp3s and videos (other than PVs) here? I would like to be more active u know! ^^ How about other Jpop??

Tekkon Kinkreet report

Ok. Yesterday I went to watch Tekkon Kinkreet, the movie where Nino made his voice acting debut. I was mesmerized when I learned that they were screening it as part of the Premiere Nights festival in Athens. So here is my opinion on the movie and Nino's voiceacting as Kuro. Just click on the cut.

The screening was on 06:00 pm. I went earlier to get tickets cause I was sure there would be a queue if I went minutes before it started. And I was right. My friend Faye, who loves anime, and my sis were with me.
The movie started soon after we reached our seats.
It was a really good movie. The character designs are not your average anime style. It was a style unique to Matsumoto Taiyou, the creator of the original manga. Many mainstream anime fans would find this style repulsive, more like a child's drawings than an established mangaka's style. However, given time, it grows on you.
Now what's really impressing about the movie is the backrounds, the sceneries. They were so beautiful, they left me gaping. The directing, by Michael Arias, was also very memorable. And the music very fitting. Faye said that she liked the music above all.
Storywise, it's a really complicated story, but once you get into it, you'll get immmersed in it. If it didn't have some supernatural elements it would make a wonderful live action adaption. It had everything a yakuza film requires and add some lost boys to it! As far as I go, the story didn't bore me one second!
Coming to the voice actors now. I was mainly going to see this for Nino and my undying love for him. I know that as an actor he can pull off any role given to him but can he do that as a voice actor? The answer is yes! This guy was born to act! At one point in the movie Kuro goes insane. Nino's voice gave me the creeps there. He was paranoid! It was like he truly felt Kuro's despair. All of Kuro's emotions were displayed in his voice! I'm bowing down to Nino's greatness. Now if he just sang, I would have died at my seat!
Well, Nino wasn't the only actor in the movie that I knew. Shiro's voice was Aoi Yu-san, a cute actress most people recognise from movies like Honey & Clover (she acted as Hagu) and Hula Girls. Her voice is lovely but she had changed it to fit that of a bratty kid. It's not uncommon, as you know, for a voice actress to act as a little boy. Yu-san was equally good to Nino, their voices complemented each other. Also, Shiro made me really emotional and I almost cried at one point.
In additon to Nino and Yu-san, there was also voice acting by Kankuro Kudo (he was Sawada). Kankuro Kudo as you may, or may not know, is my favorite scriptwriter, when it comes either to Jdramas or Jmovies. Whatever Kankuro Kudo has written, I'll watch. He is very well-known in Japan and has won several awards for his scripts. In addition he is an actor and has also directed a movie. If you wish to know he has written Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Tiger & Dragon, Ikebukuro West Gate Park etc. Those 3 dramas are among my all time favorites. So I was also looking forward to listen to his voice. He did a good job, portraying a side character. And his voice was just like how I imagined it to be. Quite soft but manly. ^^
Well that about wraps it up. Wish I could write more but I have to study... >< Well bye bye. Next up I will FINALLY write a report of my trip to Japan. :P
